Basil, Lemon & Ginger Green Smoothie

Are you looking for the perfect refreshing treat for a warm summer day? Look no further. This Basil Lemon Ginger Green Smoothie provides a unique and delicious flavor combination that’s perfect for sipping on the deck or near the pool—or just to jump start your morning as you head out for the day.

Basil, Lemon & Ginger Green Smoothie

This simple and easy recipe requires only six ingredients (and one of those is water!), and it blends together in one easy step. It mixes the sweetness of banana, the zest of a lemon, the freshness of basil, and the zing of ginger with the nutritional benefits of kale. The kale also gives it a pleasant green hue, and doesn’t a smoothie just feel a little healthier when it’s green?

A green smoothie is an excellent way to get veggies into your diet. Thanks to the kale, this recipe is high in micronutrients and phytochemicals, which have been linked to a host of health benefits. The vegetable has been linked to improved mood, lowered cholesterol, and even cancer-fighting properties.

If you’re not typically a kale fan, you may still want to give this recipe a try. If you use the right blender (one that liquefies the kale rather than simply chopping it), you’ll get a smooth mix without any gritty chunks of kale or basil. After all, it’s called a smoothie for a reason!

I made my basil green smoothie in a Vitamix, but the personal-sized Ninja blades are also sufficient for getting you the smooth, creamy texture you want. On a particularly hot day, try adding some ice cubes to make the texture more like a slush. Again, it’s all about pulverizing and liquefying rather than chopping.

If you haven’t tried a green smoothie before, you may still be skeptical about the flavor, but rest assured that this recipe provides an excellent blend of tart, savory, and sweet to create a unique and refreshing taste. The lemon really brightens this treat, and the banana adds a sweetness that provides balance.

One of the best reasons to make smoothies at home is that you can control the ingredients. The ones you buy at your favorite coffee shop are often loaded with sugar and artificial flavoring .You can enjoy the same cooling refreshment with full knowledge that you’re using healthful ingredients that will help keep you feeling great.

On top of that, the cost of a homemade smoothie is only a fraction of the commercial ones. You’ll save time, money, and calories while making a treat that’s easily portable if you want to take it on your commute. Don’t make being vegan expensive, it doesn’t have to be if you plan properly.
